Submission Guidelines

Ascension accepts unpublished, original poetry.

Simultaneous submissions are okay but no reprints.

Each poet can submit up to 5 poems in a 90-day period.

All submissions need a 50-100 word professional bio written at the bottom of the page, after the poem.

For submissions of 2-5 poems, please submit them all in one document; bio goes after all poems.

All lengths and styles are welcome, from haiku to epic poetry.

We're especially interested in poetry that leans toward the fantastical, the dark, and the magical:

• Fantasy
• Gothic
• Ancient World
• Mythological
• Magic Spells
• Mystic Visions
• Nature
• Prophecies
• Prayers
• Litanies
• Dreams
• Nightmares

Sorry - we are not seeking sci-fi, erotica or slam poetry.

How to Submit

1. Follow Shunn poetry formatting
2. ​At the bottom of the document, add your professional bio
3. Save the file using the formula: Last Name_Title
   (EX: Cook_Ascension, Adams_Beyond Ascension)
4. Upload the .doc/.docx (no PDFs) via the form at the left.

Tips

• Use America Letterhead (8.5" x 11") paper size
• Use 1" margins on all sides
• Layout Indent and Spacing settings should all be zeroes
• Single spaced
• Use the ENTER key to create space between stanzas
• Put your name and contact information (including email, social media, website) at the top left of each poem
